Raising of our Active School Flags

09 June 2023 | Active School Flag

Friday, June 9th was a very proud day for our school.

On Friday, June 9th, we were very proud to be able to officially raise our two active flags. Due to Covid, our first flag, awarded in 2020 had not been officially raised so when we were awarded our second flag in May 2023, we were determined to celebrate properly.

To finish off a super Active Schools Week that ran from June 6th, we were delighted to be joined by Cairbre Ó Cairealláin, Strength and Conditioning coach with the Limerick Senior Hurling team, and Laura Frawley, a past pupil and current Irish champion at u19 Long Jump and High Jump. Both Laura and Cairbre talked to the pupils and answered some questions about their own sporting endeavours.

Our original Active Flag committee were thanked by Mr. Kelleher for their work towards the first active flag as well as the current Active Flag committee who showed great initiative and leadership skills in helping to achieve our second flag. Mr. Kelleher also thanked Ms. Cussen, Mr. Reidy and Mrs Murnane, who co-ordinated the application of the two flags.
