6th class carried out some maths investigations on Pi Day, March 14th.
The Children explored circular shapes of varying sizes i.e hoops hoops, plastic cups, paper players etc. They measured across the diameter of each circle using a ruler or measuring tape. They then measured the circumference of each circular shape using string and they measured the string with a ruler or measuring tape.
The children then divided the measurement they got for the circumference by the diameter using a calculator.
Result: Each answer was approximately 3. Therefore we learned that circumference of a circle is 3.14 or Pi times the diameter.
