As a teacher, how do you think your pupils benefitted from the visit to the Showcase?6 responses

Pupils learned many new facts about electricity. Their predominant comment was "It was cool". I think it gave them an enthusiasm for STEM and what they will encounter in the upper classes of Primary School.

They learned so much new information and were so excited

Thought-provoking experience was noticed.

It made the children very curious and being able to try some of the experiments was fantastic. We were also very impressed with the presentations given by the children. It showed the importance of being able to present in a clear, concise and articulate manner . The class presenting showed great enthusiasm about their experiments and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. This level of curiosity and enthusiasm certainly rubbed off on my pupils and they were still discussing the showcase event a few days later.

The children really enjoyed and learned a lot from each part of the showcase on ‘how does electricity work?’.The 6th class set up their class like a real science fair for Science Blast with groups organising stalls focusing on a part of their investigation. Each group explained their science stall to the other children in the school . They were shown investigations, experiments and design and make motor cars, solar models and fans; the children were given opportunities to explore various parts of each stall e.g. circuits, switches, insulators/conductors, static electricity , makey makey, electromagnet, safety and energy saving awareness information and tips. It was very engaging and informative.

It sparked an interest and excitement in children. It got lots of child led conversations going about what they saw and what they wanted to try after.
