Environmental Awareness and Care - Our School Garden

19 March 2021 | Discover Primary Science

First Class are doing a school garden project.

This year, first class have taken over the responsibility of preparing, planting, maintaining, watering and harvesting the school's vegetable garden.

On our return to school in early March, the class prepared the raised bed by digging and weeding the area we planned to plant in. Since then we have had gardening time every Friday afternoon. We planted our onion sets in the main bed and our potatoes are being grown in sacks.

We also explored germination by planting our peas indoors to observe the process and once these have grown a few centimetres and are strong, we will plant them beside the onions in the main bed. We work together, take turns and keep up our weekly weeding and watering tasks.
